Zonta Rodeo Queen Quest info session draws a crowd
There was plenty of interest in next year's Quest at Zonta's information session, held at Buchanan Park.
All signs point to the return of the Mount Isa Rodeo Queen Quest in 2025 after about a dozen potential entrants turned up to last week’s information session.
The popular pageant, which is used to raise money for community groups and organisations that benefit and support Mount Isa, is now in the hands of Zonta after Isa Rodeo Ltd failed to get Queen Quest entrants for two years.
Loretta Gladstone and Debbie Huddy have been appointed by the Zonta Club of Mount Isa to take charge of the Quest in 2025.
Last Wednesday, they held an information session at Buchanan Park for potential entrants, as well as community groups who might be looking to partner up with a Rodeo Queen.
While the Quest is a lot of fun, it’s also serious business.
There are some strict conditions of entry which are enforced to not only protect the reputation of the Zonta Mount Isa Rodeo Queen Quest, but also ensure that entrants are supporting the community.
The Quest is open to all people living in Mount Isa who are aged 21 and over and each entrant is required to raise a minimum amount of $5000 to qualify for judging.
Ms Gladstone said she was thrilled to see such interest in next year’s Quest and hoped that Zonta would soon be able to announce next year’s entrants.
“There is a lot of information to absorb but we’re here to help you and we’ll be having regular meetings to help keep you on track throughout the year,” she said at the information session.
The winners are announced at the Queen Quest Ball on the eve of the Mount Isa Rodeo.
