Comedian won't let Qantas spoil her second trip to Isa
A big crowd is expected at the Mount Isa Civic Centre next week for the International Women's Day function.

Mel Buttle can’t remember much about her first and only trip to Mount Isa – but the reason will resonate with most locals.
“I have been there once, like years and years and years ago, but I don’t have a big memory of the place because we were all fixated on other things because Qantas lost our luggage,” Buttle said.
“We had to do the show with what we had or what we could buy from Kmart.
“The whole day was spent just going and buying toothpaste and all that sort of stuff.”
That was the best part of 15 years ago, the Queensland comedian and writer says, but she won’t run into the same mistake next weekend when she flies in to host the Zonta Club of Mount Isa’s International Women’s Day event at the Civic Centre.
“I don’t check in baggage now,” she said.
Buttle says the Mount Isa audience can expect to hear some material from her recent Adelaide Fringe appearance, which drew a five-star review.
“Because it’ll be mostly women, I’m going to go hard on that content,” she said.
“They’re going to hear about being a mum, having a two-and-a-half-year-old, and why my body is covered in bruises from Hot Wheels cars being thrown at me!
“I hope they like that. If not, everyone’s got a dog these days, so I’ve got some dog jokes ready.”
Buttle, who juggles stand-up comedy with TV and writing gigs, as well as being a full-time mum, said she was looking forward to the International Women’s Day function.
“I’m sure it’ll be a fun night and we’ll have a few laughs together,” she said.
